We kicked off our trip to Jordan by exploring the dramatic desert of Wadi Rum, a truly quintessential Lawrence of Arabia-esque experience. Having flown into Aqaba the previous day, it was less than an hour taxi ride to reach Wadi Rum Village. Here you can meet local guides for jeep tours or if you’re really keen, you can walk around the desert on your own, taking in the numerous sights by foot. While we saw some travelers opting for this, for us it seemed like a pretty hot, sandy, sunstroke kind of way to spend the day. Instead, we mainly explored the desert on the back of a jeep, while also having plenty of opportunities to explore by foot- climbing rock faces up to high springs, scrambling over stone arches and through canyons (siqs) and sliding down sand dunes. Here are some snaps from our day adventuring.
